Facts i love ‘bout Facso

When i recieve an e-mail of University of Chile i felt really excited. I finally become a student of Facso! (Facso means Faculty of Social Sciencies, but in Spanish clearly)

You can't visit Facso without try the legendary "pastos", the most confortable place for make social life. (My photo even has a British version of Ricardo).

So, when i arrived here there was a plenty of specific step which push me to travel through Gomez Millas Campus. So, the Registration Tour was very important for me beacuse help me to make a whole imprison: Facso is modest, but isn’t poor. I think the lack of luxury reflects the social spirit which involves this building. Yeah, that’s Facso: a humble building with Broherhood (and also Political) Spirit!
There’s just one severe critic i should make to Facso: our library is disappointing. I mean when i saw the libary of Faculty of Philosophy i thought that it was a sanctury. I really want that ours were the half of good. I mean, i hope someday we’d have a bigger place, and even important, that were sound-proof.

My dream takes a Place…

Well, I wasn’t sure what country I’d choose becuase I like at least four: France, Canada, England and Japan.

Then, I chose Japan because its mystical traditions, the cities that integrate modernity and classical architecture, the most adorable and freak publicity (who glares me with its creativity, besides our commercials are lame or cheap copies of north-american culture) , their exotic seafood and TV shows, among other things.
I’d like to eat ooshi onigiris (tasty rice-balls) and octopus croquetts, visit a videogame event, have a trip to the mountains and have the expirience of enjoying one of the nocturnal Summer festivals.
If I live there I wish to have a house in a city (except Tokyo, beacuse of its enormous extension) I could live better, especially when I become a senior because Japanese people are really respectful. Maybe at firts sight you think they are more self-focused (even egoist) but they have installed in their culture more sense of respect than any occidental culture in general.

FrRUSH-tration Time !

My dominant feeling about returning class is a mix Frustrations and Anxiety.
Christmas and New Year doesn`t represent a big deal (in terms of block my studies) because i live in Santiago and i don`t spent these holidays out of the city.
What makes me mad about getting back are the teachers who feel like "I`m already being pretty flexible (and BENEVOLENT)". The implicit message really bother me because i can´t figure out a way to read all the list of articles at the rhythm Universitity push me! (there`s comes the FRUSTRATION). And i don`t wanna think about the overwhelming days (or evalutions-compressed days!) (and heres, the ANXIETY)
I feel kinda sad too because i can assure my little brother won`t enjoy his vacations as possible as he could does with me.  I mean, all years we plan things to avoid the boring part of summer but, there´s no other option.
No matter what the situation, i Won`t Give up! I wanna MOVE ON!

Self-Review: Did I enjoy my Blog?

This week I`ll coment you about the experience of making a Blog:

Well, when i knew that we (students of Preintermediate) would make a blog i tought that it `d be fun. Seriously, write about different topics every week and prove my vocabulary was a great task. The technical part was a Little bit confuse, but i get used to the Gmail-Blogger system. I didn´t have big troubles with technology, so it`d represent an advantage to me.
The weeks which bored me were the “practical information activities (London tourism and Environment) beacuse i had the idea to write about other topics (that i`ve considered more importants: like my favourite animal or my favourite childhood character), but it`s almost impossible receive all what you wish.
I didn´t think that we learn a lot of new things, beacuse we haven`t classes of Grammar. The most part of how i wrote my posts were beacuse of my previous skills. The blog assignaments were incentives to keep them “alive”. Sorry if this opinión sounds harsh, but it`s what i Think.
I also think that i´m not ready for Anglo-Saxon World. I barely can keep the rythm of a American or Brittish Tv Program (or programme). The listening area still represents a challenge for me.
In despite of my Cruel Critics, I must confess the Blog is a funny tool to chat and learn about my mates. The most of the topics let me express myself in a Joyful way! Posting in my mates blogs was a social experience (inderectly).
The offer to listening music meanwhile we wrote was a kind detail! So thank you a lot for it.
Mr. Alvaro, don`t worry: Blog is a pretty creative instance to test the students in the application of their knowledge, so Still being a Funny Teacher!

Bookish Review: The elegance of the hedgehog

The book I´m gonna comment to you about was written by Mauriel Barbery, a French novelist and teacher of philosophy. She was rewarded with the Prix des libraires (The bookshop prize, a remarkable prize in France) for this novel beacuse she was very ingenious making a so psichologically-charged plot, adding a pich of satirical and critical humor.
The plot focuses on two particular Parisian persons: Paloma Josse is a eight-year old girl who doesn´t care about her family because they underestimate her intelligence. The funny fact is, actually, Paloma is intelectually gifted and she realises about her family´s weak points (her father is a hypocrite minister, her mother is a woman who depends on antideppresive pills and her older sister is a fanciful and despective universitary girl).  Meanwhile the doorwoman, René Michel, is a fifty-four-year old woman who pretends to be a simple person, when in her house (or inside of her heart) is an erudite woman who loves classic literature. She acts like a brute poor woman beacuse she doesn´t want an important job or (the most important reason) she doen´t want to deal with so many hypocrite and rich people.
Paloma and Mrs. René will meet each other better and become friends beacuse they know and share really deep opinions about literature, the people who live in the building and the way to analyze and judge other people.
Paloma explains (not explicitly) that the name of the book refers to Mrs. René´s mask (the fact to protect herself) as prudent and elegant as the hedgehogs.
I recommend this book because I didn´t imagine that a little fictional girl can make us see the truth (rich people can be really intellectually ignorant, and also respect to the real value of the things) and question herself about the things who aren´t obvious either right: Just Biases!

An Impressive Image

Hi mates, this week i´ll show you a picture who captivated me.

Well, the picture that i´ve choosen was taken in 2007 Winter (in North Hemisphere) by Robert Wesselman, an independent photographer specializated in animals. He had worked for National Geographic corporation catching wolves, bears, eagles among other natural creatures.
This image inspire me so many feelings, that i`ll have to list them:
First, when i watch it i feel how the fox is contemplating the surroundings of the snowy environment. The wildlife can be harsh but i can´t deny sometimes is pretty majestic too. Specially when you´re able to live in those condictions.
A second reason would respond to my preference for some animals (foxes have been strong contenders in my favourite animals among the bats, crocodiles and wolves). I think they´re just cool for their supervivence strategies (fox´s srewdness), their slender and elegant contexture and of course, their playful nature. Don´t you think that we all have favourite animals?
My third reason is that i like so much its orange fur. I think red hair its a sign of attitude, strong emotions and relfects vitality. When the summer shines, some foxes look kinda blond which it is very colorful. Besides, they have that blacky terminations on their extremities which make them pretty distintive. That´s a personal appreciation (pretty subjetive) but it´s what it makes me feel.
And the final reason: I think how the elementes were configurated was a magnicent coincidence. Have a deep look while you´re watching a natural place and there´s the ideal quantity of light to catch you in a picture like this it´s more than luck. The destiny wanted to capture you.
I hope you enjoyed the photography too.

The best day of my life Sun Comes Out at 10 PM

March, 10th of the present year (2011) was the best day of my life and i don´t mean it was beacuse i skip the University “Mechoneo” rite. That was a coincidence. There´s no way that i could knew about it. The unforgettable Thursday that i´ll talk about is the Shakira´s Concert on Santiago, Chile.

When I realised that the concert was confimed at Offical Shakira Website (February) I didn´t lose time and I bought a ticket as soon as I arrived from my vacations. It was one of the most important facts of my live considering how much i love her and her songs.

Shakira was the main attraction of the Pop Festival, a event who reunited Train, Francisca Valenzuela and Ziggy Marley at Estadio Nacional, the big Coliseum of Ñuñoa. They all were ok, but it´s obvious that they were like appetizers for me. Eventually the hour of her presentation were everytime closer. When finally comes i feel i was a little piece of her. Listen to her (the real her!) was a blast!.

The most remarkable part was that she sang all the song that i´ve expected in his latin version of the Tour: “Inevitable”, “Ojos así” and “Underneath Your Clothes” were simply delicious and they shaked my heart. “Loba”, “Gitana” and “Waka-Waka” caught me with their rythm. "Sale el Sol", the song who named the tour really liked me, and i´m sure that Shakira enjoyed the song in a special way too.

I never though see your favourite artist live would be so stunning. I´ve guessed it, but the real experience is far away than shocking, it really enter in your soul.

Sun Comes Out World Tour was a blessing for me.

Techno-Review: My laptop

A device who has involved a lot in my life is my personal computer or laptop. It´s a piece of Dell technology for academic and entertainment functions. It was gifted to me in 2009 Christmas. I´ve never guess it, because i didn´t push my parents to buy me one. I was satisfied with the desktop family PC.
Well, it would be naive assume that laptop works without internet service. Actually, you can watch DVD´s and install computer games but you need to get information, pictures and related media (music of course!) and send document through the vitual world. I also aprecciate a lot the posibility of mix a chat window, a playlist of my favourite songs and my profile on Facebook (you can rather another social net), but i´m kinda scaried by the addictive propieties of technological things. I think i´m a little bit exposed to them.
My life without it would be easier beacuse i´d have more time to read and focus on the real world. The temptation of a non-digital life is discarded because my new academic life-style demands use of a significative number of digital resources. But i can´t deny that i´d miss handle long-distance conversation and music playlists at the same time.

A Place i`d love to go: Mount Fuji

This week i´ll write about Mount Fuji, one of the most prominent natural beauties of Japan. It´s located on Honshu Island, the largest of Japanese territory.
Mount Fuji has been the source of inspiration of many artists through the mithycal japanese history. Actually, it still inspirate japanese people: is pretty common do references of it in many TV programs, even in animes.
Of course Mount Fuji has more value than a paintable majestic monument. It also is a very crowded spot of tourism. The principal attractive is resemble the ancient image of the country: the traditional and respresentative discipline, samurai clothes and kimonos, singular candies along the typical tea glass. I think people who admire the history of Japan should visit and take a tour, and live a grateful experience of serinity and withdrawal.
I´d like to go with my family the first time and, a second time all by myself because it`s normal to feel better in family and do the touristic activities, but after that i`d like to create my own schedule, see the monuments and places with my own rythm and have the opotunity to meditate in a depeer way.
I´ll save to travel to that place once i finish my career because i think it`s pretty positive and grateful when you save money by yourself and reward your effort.

When i`m Sad: Shakira!

I  think listen to music it`s very therapeutical. Even if you`re sad. In my case, i rather listen to Shakira`s songs. I used to create a special soundtrack of her sad and romantic hits. I love when she says in her lyrics things that i feel.  Actually, it`s remarkable when somebody else can express what you feel in a poetical way: pain seems to flown maturely and it can be transformed in a beautiful scar.
I think it`s necessary let to bloom the sadness beacuse it can be pretty destructive. Self-destructive. Need help to release emotions is normal and music can be your way to find peace.  It`s an spiritual necesity, if you ignore it be sure it can hurt you later.
Songs like “Inevitable”, “No”, “Te aviso, te anuncio”,“Eyes like yours”, “Si te vas” and the most important: “Underneath your clothes” and “Don`t bother” are pure art for my ears. I can`t concibe a day without listen her. I`d feel destroyed if i had a bad day and i can`t listen my favourites Shakira`s songs. When she plays the guitar and denounce betrayal, loveless, unsensitivity or lying i feel she can read me entirely and defend my grieving. Who doesn`t want a musical lawyer?

If you`re sad watch my favourites on Youtube =):

Someone who I Admire: Dr. Robi Ludwig

Dr. Robi Ludwig is an american psychotherapist. She`s Californian and she has a master degree in Social Work from Pennsylvania University and, of course, an doctorate (PhD) from Southern California University. She has a long career specially relationated with marriage therapy. Dr. Ludwig also specialize in issues like:  grieving, sexual identity, drugs abuse and stress.

Dr. Ludwig has buildt a remarkable and sucessful and we can be witness of it if we considerate she has hosted two Tv shows: "One Week to Save your Marriage" (the most famous one) and "Without Prejudge?" . She even has participated like a guest in american talks shows like: Oprah, E! and Hannity and Holmes to talk about human emotional boundries, mental illness and sexual behavour (facts and prejudges).

Also there were exercices to listen, respect the opinion of your husband/wife instead bluffing and comunnicate maturely.

She reinforce my dream about be pshycologist becuase I want to make people talk over the sterotypes, confront their emotional issues, get over their peers hostility and raise self-esteems.

Movie Review: Tangled

The last movie I saw was Tangled. It is a movie for children about the tale of Rapunzel. Even if some details of the original tale were changed and invented, the plot is pretty attractive for kids, teenargers and child-hearted adults.

Plot
Rapunzel was kidnapped when she was a baby by an old creepy lady called Gothel. She wants the magical power of the hair of the baby to keep herself young. When Rapunzel growns up she decide to travel to discover the world outside the tower she was stucked in and, for some fate reasons,  she discovered that Gothel wasn`t her real mother and she used her.

Voice actor(s) / Actress(es):  Mandy Moore, Zachari Levi and Donna Murphy
